In a shining example of cross-religion solidarity to save thalassemia patient Danishwar Jahan, 12, who lives in Kishanganj district, about 300 km from here, three officials of the Border Security Force with different religious beliefs donated blood to her on Monday.
"The three BSF officials donated blood for her transfusion and pledged to donate blood for her regularly," Tanweer Alam of Alam Nursing Home in Kishanganj said. On Tuesday, Alam said it was a coincidence that the blood donors — Harendra Prasad, S Lamba and Lal Chand — are Hindu, Sikh and Christian respectively. Danishwar requires regular blood transfusions. "Only blood transfusion on regular basis will keep her alive," Alam said.
Danishwar's father Mohammed Illias said, "The way BSF officials donated blood for her blood transfusion and assured us that they would continue to do so regularly was god's gift."
