"Faith of the Free" -- A "grassroots forum" of information, inspiration and ideas...about the (humbly questing, openly questioning and radically inclusive) "liberal way" in religion...its rich heritage, intrinsic values and growing relevance for an ever-shrinking world. --

,
-- Can a humanist or an atheist be a mystic as well? Does mysticism require a supernatural faith? Where does mysticism fit into the liberal mode of religious faith...into modern-day Unitarian Universalism? I've been thinking about starting an area for discussions along these lines for a while now.
-- If you folks would like to discuss this topic, I welcome that opportunity! To "prime the pump" a little I suggest internet searches using terms like "unitarian mystic," "universalist mystic," "atheist mystics," "humanist mystics," "naturalistic mysticism," etc. There are a number of websites devoted to such things, including some interesting UU sermons (which I plan to browse as time permits).
-- Come and join me, won't you, as we explore the "mystical side" of our rationalistic, humanistic religious heritage! _________________ -- Ron
